For the route, not the destination
A great many roads I have taken for no reason at the far end.
Guiding teaches you that people book a destination and remember a road. They will describe the afternoon of getting somewhere in far more detail than the place itself.
I have taken a great many routes not to arrive anywhere, but for the route. Nothing about that has ever felt like a detour.
