Lifein its different forms
More than I have sought a title, I have sought to experience life in its different forms — writing, learning, creating, travelling, and returning again to the word.

Everything begins, for me, with the word. Writing has been one of the oldest companions of my life. From books and articles to poetry.
Six of the published books
The Motorcycle First Responder
A scientific and practical guide to rapid response by motorcycle at incident scenes
In the moments when seconds decide an outcome, there are people who open the road — not for themselves, but for the lives of others.
A motorcycle first responder is not merely a fast vehicle; he is a link between the human being, knowledge, and responsibility.
This book is an account of the skills, the decisions and the pressures running through every mission: from the first look at the scene to the quiet ride back once it is over.
An account of relief work that gives speed its meaning through safety, power through ethics, and duty through humanity.
Six ways
Each one has an account of its own and repeats none of the others — but they all begin in the same place, and come back to it.
01Books
Of what has been published, three authored, one co-authored and two translated are here. Most of them are about the same thing I teach.
02Poetry
Where I am no longer meant to teach anything or explain anything — about love, about people, the road and solitude.
03Teaching
Experience gathered on the road and written down in the books is handed on here — from learners who have only just set out on this path, to the instructors who will themselves go on to teach others.
04Lived experience
By motorcycle I have come to know Iran through its roads — from cities and villages to mountain and desert. Some things must be lived before they can be understood.
05The same way of looking
Naghashi-khat (calligraphy-painting), photography and music. They are other forms of the same way of looking — the same story, this time in line, colour, image and sound.
06Notes
What has not yet reached a book or a poem.
Four decades, one country
Nine threads of work, and none of them replaced another — writing, teaching, the camera, the rock, the road. The map is the country they were made in; the experience page holds each of them in full.

Notes
What a map cannot tell you
Some roads look nothing on paper like what they turn out to be.
Teaching the ones who will teach
A learner carries what you taught them. An instructor carries it to everyone after.
Where nothing has to be explained
Poetry is the one room where I am not the teacher.
Look before the shutter
Thirty years of carrying a camera taught me the slowest part first.
The desert keeps its own hours
You do not set the schedule out there. You read it.
Everything begins with the word
Before the road, the camera and the rest of it, there was writing.
